The Makersclub is an intimate community of entrepreneurs, creators and true Novanta lovers at heart: people who share the same spark and the same dream of what this place can become. 

Many of them first arrived in the valley as guests, often inspiring entrepreneurs with visions and talents of their own. And somewhere between our long-table dinners and late-night conversations, we noticed how our ideas emerged, visions grew, and a shared desire to help shape Novanta’s future took root. From that spirit, the Makersclub was born. 

Today, its members inspire us, challenge us and help us create new experiences for our hilltop village. They dream with us, build with us and keep the magic of our Gello alive.

How it works

It takes a community to restore a village.

Becoming a Maker is simple, transparent, and meaningful. You contribute a €10,000 loan to help us restore forgotten places and bring Castello di Gello back to life. Depending on the flavor you pick, you receive club benefits, return in kind as unforgettable stays in Tuscany and financial return. After 3 or 5 years, your full investment is returned. Guaranteed. No complexity: just clarity, and a shared dream.

That must have been quite a long time ago. Our daughter showed us an ad or an article in Elle magazine about Novanta. She said, “This is really something for you.” And so right she was.

A mix of loyalty to the founders of Novanta and a desire to be more involved in its development. And of course, the opportunity to visit Novanta more often.

That would have to be the swimming pool. Even though its luxury sometimes feels like an anachronism in the context of the Novanta village, it is still a very pleasant, relaxing, and enjoyable addition to the Novanta experience.

I would highlight the benefit of having free stays at Novanta and emphasize that the Makers Club connects you with a group of genuinely lovely people. We’ve made some real and lasting friendships through the Makers Club.

It goes back quite a while. At the time, the swimming pool was just an above-ground plastic pool surrounded by a few pallets. Yet we often had truly epic pool parties with most of the guests—and the staff—joining in. In those early days, staff and guests were much more of a mixed crowd, and at the pool parties that mixture really came to life (to an explosion actually).

Eight years ago I met Igor, one of the founders of Novanta, in Amsterdam. He passionately told me about the project they were starting up in Italy. Because I work in Food & Beverage and I really enjoy adventure and off-the-grid holidays, he recommended that I come to Novanta for a week which me and my family did.

After our first stay at Novanta, I was really eager to stay connected to the project from the sidelines. I was incredibly curious to see what these guys would be able to create, and I saw the potential of the project. So when they mentioned they were looking for investors to take the next steps, such as building a swimming pool and renovating and decorating houses, I decided to join in. It’s incredible to see what they have accomplished.

Of course, I’m very happy that my contribution helped Novanta to build the swimming pool, improve the rooms, and restore the buildings. But what makes me happiest is being part of a group of people who have all fallen in love with that quirky little place on top of a hill in Tuscany. It’s a hotel, but we feel more like it’s a home away from home, a place we love to come back to, not just as hotelguests, but as friends. It’s a really special, fun, and exciting project to be part of.

What I love most about the Meemakers is that a lot of them are people who feel deeply connected to Novanta — not because of the return of investment, but because they feel at home there, they truly care about the place and the people and want to stay involved. So if you have lost your heart to Novanta like I did and want to stay connected, being a Meemaker is a great way to achieve that.

Together with Rosalie (who lived and worked in Novanta for five years), I organized the Matti Di Gello Festival last October. It was a festival where (former) staff and interns, Meemakers, loyal guests and adventurous people came together for an amazing weekend full of creativity, nature, food, music, and lots of magic. We were dancing along the campfire and wandering with crowns of branches and painted faces, playing outdoor games and much more! That, to me, is what Novanta is all about, not a traditional hotel, but a place where we can create unforgettable experiences together.
