Disclaimer
A. Please note
Novanta is a fantastic place with many challenging activities and fun, intense, and educational excursions. Our hotel is located in a deserted village, in the heart of a nature reserve in the Italian Apennine Mountains. This is very exciting and special, but requires more vigilance from visitors than the usual paved, safety-controlled urban environment where most of us spend our daily lives.
B. Take responsibility
We are adventurers and love risks, sometimes even seeking out danger. You can emulate us, but please do so at your own risk. If you are clumsy or know you break things easily, don’t imitate us and keep your wits about you. We don’t mind if you just relax by the pool and enjoy your cocktail.
C. Focus on safety
Guests have the freedom to explore on their own or in groups, but please be aware that you are in an uncontrolled environment with nature, rugged landscapes, and animals. Therefore, we ask you to consider your own safety and that of others and to properly instruct your children.
D. Be Prepared
We do our best to prevent unsafe situations and to keep an eye on activities. However, because the village is still developing, the activities can be quite intense, and nature can be unpredictable, we also ask you, as a visitor, to be well prepared, to think carefully, and to keep an eye on others.
E. Liability Excluded
There are a number of specific risks that our guests should be aware of and for which they are personally liable. Novanta is not liable for the points listed under F-S.
F. Health
Several places in the valley and on the mountain are only accessible through strenuous physical exertion. We ask guests to consider their own physical health and limitations when registering for an excursion. If you have a condition that poses a risk on a long, steep hike, please ask to be driven, and do not walk yourself!
For example, Novanta is not liable if you have a heart attack on a long, steep climb. We will, of course, do our utmost to take you to the hospital.
G. Surroundings
We offer our guests the opportunity to explore the village on their own, but expect caution. Narrow and steep paths and climbing rocks are entered at your own risk. The same applies to climbing walls and fences in and around the village.
For example, if your child falls off a wall and breaks something, it’s a valuable lesson. Just like at home, accidents can happen here. Borgo di Gello is full of angles!
H. Ruins
Entering the ruins is prohibited. These are recognizable by the fact that these (parts of) buildings have no roofs, windows, and/or doors. We have temporarily closed off access to these areas or cordoned them off with red and white tape. The walls and roofs may collapse; these are not play areas for children.
Gravity in Borgo di Gello is merciless, and stones and roof tiles constantly fall into the ruins. Make sure you don’t stand under them; do not enter the ruins!
I. Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is only accessible to adults and children accompanied by an adult. PLEASE do not run or dive. The pool is only 1.4 meters deep and, according to Italian law, is exempt from lifeguard duties. According to Italian law, everyone must wash their feet before entering the pool. We have placed a large sign, but we don’t enforce it.
We considered a prank on this matter, but couldn’t think of anything other than a foot check. Spinal cord injuries and broken necks are no laughing matter, so be very careful in and around the pool.
J. Animals
If you encounter any of the many beautiful animals in the valley during your stay at Novanta, we advise you not to approach or disturb wild boars, dogs, or other large game. Insects and scorpions are harmless, but you can easily receive a (harmless) bite, so handle them with care. Note: if you turn in 5 scorpions, you’ll receive a free drink.
We also recommend leaving snakes alone and wearing sturdy shoes and long pants in tall grass. Most snakes in Italy are harmless. In case of a bite, take the snake with you, don’t try your hand at your hobby. The local hospital will have the right advice.
K. Children
Borgo di Gello is a wonderful playground. It’s a beautiful place where children can play outdoors, have adventures, and explore. And that’s the whole point! While we at Novanta facilitate fun games and activities, this is done under parental supervision. Novanta is not responsible for supervising children or liable for any accidents that may occur.
Children are equipped with a natural alarm sound. If they stay within earshot, you’ll hear it automatically if something is wrong. We ask parents to treat any scrapes or bruises with love and understanding. At Novanta, we strive to prevent worse.
L. Treehouse
Since monkeys came down from the trees, humans have been fascinated with tree-dwelling. However, staying in a tree has its drawbacks. For example, treehouses have the disadvantage of being located high up in the tree. As you can imagine, there’s a risk of falling out, especially for those with walking difficulties and/or poor night vision. Also, be careful with excessive alcohol consumption! Children in the treehouse are (haha) the responsibility of their parents.
M. Guest Transportation
Transportation of guests, both on and off-road, is at the guests’ own risk. Guests are requested to remain in their (passenger) seats and use their seatbelts at all times.
N. Archery
When shooting archery, it is important to only shoot at the target and not to walk into the shooting range during the shooting. Always follow the guide’s instructions carefully.
O. Forest Walks
The forest is vast, and it’s easy to get lost. Entering the forest is at your own risk. Make sure you wear good shoes, bring your phone, and inform someone of your walk. Don’t worry about wild animals in the forest, but be especially careful about hunters.
P. River and Waterfall
We love swimming in the beautiful Corsalone River. It’s very tempting to jump off the waterfall and the rocks. Because you can’t estimate the depth of the water, we advise against jumping off the waterfall. Jumping from the waterfall is entirely at your own risk.
Q. Riverwalking/Riverhike
Do not bring electronics on the river hike. There’s only a small chance of staying dry, and although the Corsalone water is supposedly good for humans, it’s definitely bad for phones and cameras.
Participants must have a swimming certificate due to high water. Children may only participate if accompanied by a parent.
R. Wine Tastings
We organize various wine tastings. It’s very tempting to skip the wine after tasting. That’s not a problem in itself, but make sure you have a driver who knows in advance that they don’t drink!
If you’re taking medication, please be aware that you can’t drink alcohol. We enjoy fireworks, but preferably not at the wine tasting.
S. Allergies
We take into account any allergies and food preferences we have. Due to the limitations of our suppliers, we cannot guarantee the absence of allergens. Novanta is not liable for any complaints that may arise as a result.
T. Choice of Forum
Novanta is a trading name of Next Level Hospitality srl. Our company is located in Italy, with a name that is unpronounceable to Italians. Our business operations and this disclaimer are governed by Italian law.
U. Medical Care
Novanta is located approximately 30 minutes from a regional hospital with 24-hour first aid. Novanta has an AED kit and crew members who are capable of using it.
V. Sustainability & Cleanliness
At Novanta, we are guests in a wild and beautiful valley, and we ask you to treat it with care. Please don’t leave cigarette butts or trash in nature and be mindful of your impact. If these guidelines aren’t respected and cleanup is needed, we’ll have to apply a fine. Together, we can keep this place as magical as you found it. We are committed to sustainability, and while we trust our guests to do the right thing, we must also protect this special place. Therefore, if these guidelines are not respected and cleanup is required, a fine will be applied to cover environmental and labor costs. We’re here to have fun, relax, and reconnect with each other and nature – but we’re also guests in this valley. Let’s take care of it together.
We’ll figure out W, X, Y, and Z later. We’ll certainly find inspiration for that in the coming seasons!
Despite all the above, we hope your holiday is a success, filled with adventure and fun, but without any broken bones!
